One house, two families, but there's only ONE meter permitted per building!
B.C. Hydro will increase the electrical rate for consumption over 1,350 kwh monitored by one meter even though there might be two families living under one roof. It will be difficult enough for one family to limit their consumption to 1,350 kwh, but for two families to not go over that level will be next to impossible. It will be on the shoulders of the family who receives the bill to pay it. - Times Colonist
If Christy Clark wants to do something immediate, to assist Families First, she should declare that any Single family home that has a LEGAL Secondary suite, to have only one rate, not a second one that penalizes the efforts of homeowners and their tenants, municipalities too (who prefer to have Legal Secondary suites, ones that meet the BC Building Code on Secondary Suites) as an acceptable means to create affordable housing.
What about it Christy?
