The FOI topic at hand is solely to do with 'Transportation and Infrastructure' where the 'Individual' was seeking two pieces of information. One, how many employees of the Ministry were in receipt of cell phones and secondly, how much money was paid for the use of those cell phones.
This is for just ONE Ministry! Can you imagine how many other requests are about to be made against other Ministries?
Kind of hard to see by this photo of just what's involved, so by all means, open up the second document link, under the heading of Files, but for now, keep on reading.
The information is spread across two pages, when one would have been sufficient. Fact is, the First Page's content is in the Upper Left Hand corner. So too is the Second Page's contents. Must be a global formatting problem. Why put the documents on two different pages...... Nah! that's not the point, at all.
The point here is why does everything have to be put into a PDF file, why not provide it as a Spreadsheet, one less chance of there being an error. If BC Hydro is allowed to produce spreadsheets in their Reports to the Public, why not here, in an Open Information portal?
What I've done is a Copy and a Paste job from a PDF file, directly into Microsoft Excel, because something just didn't look right in the right hand column of the twelve month tally......on the First Page.
From the spreadsheet, and please remember that this is not a Calendar Year, its a Fiscal Year starting on April 1, of 2011 and ending on March 31, 2012, which means Christy and her wrecking crew were busy defending the long gone (by one month) Gordon Campbell's HST.
From Open Information, the BC Liberals' GCPE aka PAB, have come out and said on Travel Expenses, not just in the case of MLA Pat Bell, that although he's providing a record of Monthly expenses for say... March, all the bills won't be in until perhaps two or three months later. A Month's true cost is no where near the truth.
We all know that's more Hogwash, because March is the end of the Fiscal Year.
The spreadsheet, the data from the PDF file, above, seems to peak twice, once by the twelfth day of September, after the HST Referendum is over, and like MLA Pat Bell's March Travel Expenses, it peaks again at the end of the Fiscal Year, March..
Although the second of six months looks like a repeat roller coaster ride of the first six months, maybe its far worse, more like coming down from atop of Mount Everest, its a killer, because there's 39,213 Dollars worth of Cell phone calling missing!
Squandered? The FOI report can't even add, 12 numbers in a row, and get the right answer!
Think about this, why would someone think they could lose $39,213 in a total of twelve months, one Fiscal year.
Oh, and who was the second Minister, co-chairing the Town Hall Meetings.........alongside the Minister of Transportation? The Minister of Finance, Deputy Premier of the Province of British Columbia.
And if the Minister of Finance can't confirm costs of a telephone bill for one year for one Ministry correctly, do you want to trust Kevin Falcon with a Budget that is in the Billions of Dollars?
