I've often wondered where Premier Christy Clark got her idea for "Open Information", must have been from the BC Liberals' strong man version, Gordon Campbell, where he originally claimed in 2001 that his government would have an "Open and Transparent Government". Sort of fizzled out around about 2003 with the Sale of BC Rail to CN Rail, or the raid on the BC Legislature put an end to it all.
This mantra showed up in Government soon afterwards:

Don't Save, Shred.
Fortunately, this morning, I typed into Open Information, a Search Criteria which I found on the Premier's Travel Expense for February!!!!!!, although she's still maintaining that there are TWO months of January in 2012. Search Criteria: type: minister travel expenses Results:2050 This one showed up, second hit down:
[application/pdf] Open Information Procedures ... release of travel expense information by type of expense ... preparation, review and posting of travel expenses paid for each Minister and Deputy ... http://www.gov.bc.ca/citz/iao/foi/open_info/employee_procedures_docs/Open_Information_Procedures.pdf [ More results from www.gov.bc.ca/citz/iao/foi ]
You may have heard the Pacific Gazatteer, or the official Named rights for the blog being The Gazatteer, mention something called the FOI Collective, but before you get too carried away with what that entails, and how you will be able to use the information, there's this BC Liberal Government sponsored handbook, containing the guidelines of how the BC Liberal Government goes about providing all that data on Travel Expense AND FOIs. One slight problem though, as much as they have all of the necessary steps, these hoops to hop through, its the last person, the one that's not on the schematic that has the most important job of all, and failed, miserably, yesterday on the Due Date. That is, the Online Presentation that goes about preserving that the Fiscal Months in a Calendar year go like this:
2011 March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December, 2012 January, February ended up like this 2011 March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December, 2012 January, January! Its all about C & P, Cut and Paste, in the name of Expediency!
Are your FOIs not arriving at your doorstep in a timely fashion, or not at all? Has it been declared to be "Exempted from ProActive Disclosure"? Just what are these Exemptions? Check out the bottom of Page 5. You'll find that IAO (bottom of Page 4) is the outfit behind these Exemptions. Basically, the Government, via IAO declare that they must "apply the General FOI Requests Proactive Disclosure Exemption Criteria against ALL General FOI requests". IAO = Information Access Operations
