2011 Pine Beetle Infestations

sus·tain·a·ble
Adjective:
  1. Able to be maintained at a certain rate or level.
  2. (esp. of development, exploitation, or agriculture) Conserving an ecological balance by avoiding depletion of natural resources.

All the time that the BC Liberals have been in power, they must have been watching the pine beetle maintain their pace, eating their way through our trees throughout southern BC.

With Christy Clark at the helm, all those flights to northern British Columbia, they must have been filled her with anxious moments, knowing that there wasn't a single thing she could do to stop the Beetles.

She couldn't even start to plant new trees without first harvesting the trees that were dead.

Or, one long hot, expensive forest fire season, to control the burn, to spare the people and their towns.

Off to China, to Asia, to find markets for the trees, maybe even two trips, or three.
