The Great British Columbia Shakeout... and our Legislators are in Recess mode

I thought I would watch the BC Legislature in action this morning.

Red Alert notice is posted within minutes of the Hansard Television Reporting, 10:00am precisely, that our Legislatures Attendees, as of 10:20 will Drop to their knees, Dive beneath their Desks and..... wait till the shaking stops.  One Problem.

The Legislature is in Recess mode till 10:30am.

The Bizarre part in this exercise is that the staff who run the Legislature are wandering around as if nothing is happening.  What is the point of having an exercise if not all parties at the Legislature are participating?

Or more to the point...... in all likelihood the desks in the MLA's offices are wide open and have ease of access to crawl into, but what about the House itself, where the MLA's sit side by side, you'd think that the place that they would be most vulnerable would be the place to do a dry run of an earthquake drill.

And for those persons who are confined to a wheelchair, what's the drill for them, and finding cover?

Just about 10:30am, MLA's are wandering in from the hallway.  The all clear bells have sounded, and the the Parliamentarians have not sought a safe haven at all, they've been mingling just outside.

So just what kind of examples have they shown the public?
